Daniel Schnurr ist seit August 2022 Inhaber des Lehrstuhls für Maschinelles Lernen, insbesondere Uncertainty Quantification an der Universität Regensburg. Seit April 2017 leitet er die Forschungsgruppe Data Policies an der Universität Passau. Er promovierte 2016 im Bereich Wirtschaftsinformatik am Karlsruher Institut für Technologie, wo er zuvor drei Jahre als wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter am Institut für Informationswirtschaft und Marketing (IISM) arbeitete. Von 2007 bis 2013 studierte Daniel Schnurr Informationswirtschaft (B.Sc. & M.Sc.) am Karlsruher Institut für Technologie. Er war Gaststudent an der John Molson School of Business, Concordia University (Kanada) und der Singapore Management University (Singapur).
In seiner Forschung befasst sich Daniel Schnurr mit den ökonomischen und strategischen Implikationen der Digitalisierung. Seine Arbeiten zur wettbewerblichen Bedeutung des Zugangs zu Daten und Netzinfrastruktur hat er in renommierten Zeitschriften wie beispielsweise Management Science, Journal of Industrial Economics und MIT Sloan Management Review publiziert. Auf Grundlage interdisziplinärer Forschung engagiert sich Daniel Schnurr am Wissenstransfer in Praxis und Politik. So koordinierte er von 2017 bis 2019 den Arbeitskreis „Digital Society: Culture & Policies“ des Zentrum Digitalisierung.Bayern und ist seit 2022 Research Fellow des Think Thanks Centre on Regulation in Europe (CERRE).
